I drastically changed my training after nationals this year when I read an article about John Broz style of training where you squat heavy every day. I decided to do this, as a way to “catch up” on all the squat workouts I missed over the last four years of back injury. I squat every day for 50 days straight, and this was the result:
Following that I switch to a standard style program for a month before going to North American’s. This worked very well and I was able to put a 15kg increase on my squat since worlds last fall, with more in the tank. Here’s how that meet went:
Now I’m preparing for Worlds in November and I will be following my own twist on the John Broz/Bulgarian style of training, squatting 4 days a week.
